What we collect

Account data. When you sign up, our authentication provider Clerk passes us your email address, first and last name, and profile picture. If you sign in with Google, these come from your Google account. Passwords are handled by Clerk; we never see or store them.

Content you publish: topics, versions, arguments, opinions, comments, uploaded images, bookmarks and likes. Published content is public and shown together with your name and profile picture.

Technical data: IP address, browser type and the pages requested, recorded in server logs.

Cookies. Clerk sets cookies that keep you signed in, and we set a "lang" cookie to remember your language. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

How we use it

To run the service: your account, attribution of what you publish, notifications, and the consensus and reputation scores computed from published opinions and arguments.

To translate published content between the site's languages.

To keep the service secure: preventing abuse and investigating errors.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

Who processes it for us

Clerk, Inc. (USA): sign-up, sign-in and account management.

Hetzner Online GmbH: hosting. Our servers and database are located in the European Union.

Google: only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.

DeepL SE (Germany): the text of published content may be sent for machine translation.

How long we keep it

Account data and published content are kept for as long as your account exists.

Server logs are rotated automatically and kept only for a short period.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from your profile settings or by writing to us. Your email, name, profile picture and your opinions are then removed.

Topics, versions, arguments and comments you published stay on the site, because other people's discussions build on them, but they are no longer linked to you.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop processing it. If you live in the EU or EEA you can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Veraxity is not intended for children under 16.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
